Oak has open grain. Painted directly, that grain shows through as texture, which some people like and some don't. For a smooth, furniture-like painted finish, we grain-fill the doors and frames first, then prime and spray.
Prefer wood? We can strip, sand and re-stain oak in a warmer or darker tone and seal it in a modern clear coat.
